Installing Pistons in the Block - Endura Engine Rebuild - Episode 13.3
Installs the rings on the Endura engine pistons and prepares the assemblies for insertion into the block using dedicated pliers and organizing by cylinder. Also discusses ring groove positions and setting ring end gap alignment right before using the compressor band
⚡ Tightening Torques & Specifications
| Component | Specified Torque | Assembly Notes |
|---|---|---|
| connecting rod cap bolts | 4 N·m | 0.4 kgf·m × 9.81 = 3.9 N·m ≈ 4 N·m. Followed by +90° (torque-angle method). New bolts recommended (purchased from Ford, R$5 each). |
| timing chain sprocket bolts | 27 N·m | 2.8 kgf·m × 9.81 = 27.5 N·m ≈ 27 N·m. Confirmed across two manuals (Ford Australia service manual and Haynes manual). Paulo uses a Torx wrench to reach the bolt. |
