How do you remove the air filter housing assembly from a Honda Fit?
Follow the procedure below. If in doubt, check the video at the bottom of the page and leave your comment on YouTube.
Good luck and happy maintenance!
To remove the air filter housing assembly, it can be done with the housing assembled, but here I will show the procedure in parts. First we will remove the cover, then disconnect the air intake duct, and finally loosen and remove the lower part of the housing.
1. Disconnect the air temperature sensor
2. To remove the cover, loosen the 6 Phillips-head screws
3. Loosen the clamp securing the oil breather fitting and move the filter cover toward the battery.
4. Remove the air filter. It is only fitted in place, so simply pull it upward.
5. Push by hand or use a little assistance from a hand tool to separate the air intake duct from the noise reducer, then separate the noise reducer from the air filter housing.
6. Loosen and remove the two 10mm bolts securing the lower air filter housing to the car
7. Loosen the clamp screw securing the fitting hose between the TBI/throttle body and the lower air filter housing, then pull the housing assembly toward the battery to remove it from the car.
8. This completes the procedure; reinstall as needed.
