About GM's official manuals
These are the official General Motors workshop manuals for the Chevrolet S10, in PDF format. Each document covers one area of work — here's what you will find in each:
- Repair Manual — the most complete and longest manual. It provides step-by-step disassembly, assembly, and repair procedures for the engine, transmission, clutch, suspension, steering, brakes, air conditioning, and body. This is the actual workshop manual.
- Preventive Maintenance Schedule — a maintenance table by mileage and time: when to change oil, filters, spark plugs, timing belt, and fluids. Use it to plan maintenance.
- Technical Specifications — the vehicle's figures: tightening torques, clearances, oil and fluid capacities, pressures, measurements, and tolerances. This is where the tightening values are listed.
- Wiring Diagrams — wiring and circuit schematics (fuel injection, lighting, starting, etc.).
- Wiring Diagram Index — an index to quickly locate each circuit in the diagrams.
- Labor Time — the standard time table (in hours) for each job, useful when estimating a repair.
- Introduction — an overview of the manual, vehicle identification, symbols, and safety warnings.
- Glossary — meanings of technical terms and abbreviations used in the manuals.

Repair Manual Chapters
The S10 Repair Manual is the largest document in the set. Below are the chapters it covers — each contains complete disassembly, diagnosis, and assembly procedures:
- Introduction and vehicle identification — serial numbers (VIN), identification plates, engine codes (C24SE, X24XF, N24XF), and safety warnings.
- Engine — internal components (cylinder head, block, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons), timing belt, water pump, oil pump, oil pan, thermostat, and mounts.
- Fuel system — electronic fuel injection, throttle body, injectors, fuel rail, filter, and fuel pump.
- Cooling system — radiator, thermostat, hoses, fan, and temperature sensor.
- Emissions control — catalytic converter, oxygen sensor (O₂), EGR valve, canister, and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV).
- Exhaust — exhaust manifold, catalytic converter, intermediate pipe, and muffler.
- Clutch — pressure plate, disc, master cylinder, and fork actuator.
- Manual transmission — gearbox, gears, synchronizers, selector, and oils.
- Automatic transmission — torque converter, valve body, solenoids, and fluid.
- Transfer case — 4×4, coupling, and front axle.
- Axles and half-shafts — rear differential, half-shafts, universal joints, and flanges.
- Front suspension — control arms, ball joints, shock absorbers, stabilizer bar, and wheel hub.
- Rear suspension — leaf springs, U-bolts, shock absorbers, and bump stops.
- Steering — hydraulic steering gear, Pitman arm, steering column, tie-rod ends, and pump.
- Brakes — calipers, discs, drums, master cylinder, brake booster, ABS (EBCM module), hydraulic lines, and parking brake.
- Wheels and tires — lug nut torque, tire specifications, and inflation pressure.
- Electrical system — alternator, starter motor, battery, wiring, fuses, and relays.
- Air conditioning — compressor, condenser, evaporator, accumulator, and refrigerant.
- Body — panels, doors, windows, locks, and trim.
